InterNodes combines world-leading forest and biodiversity data, global expert networks, artificial intelligence, and advanced computing to accelerate research and deliver practical environmental solutions.
We are the developer and proprietor of three distinctive products:
- GAIA, the world’s most comprehensive global biosphere database integrating species abundance and incidence data;
- MATRIX, the first global stand-level forest growth and carbon simulator;
- MarsForest, a pioneering planetary forest-cover simulator for exploring future ecosystems beyond Earth.
Since 2016, through our core initiatives GFBI and Science-i, we have empowered 500+ scientists from around the world to publish 100+ research articles in top scientific journals, with major discoveries in ecology and biodiversity sciences.
Our Core Initiatives
Science-i is an AI-enabled cyberinfrastructure supporting more than 600 members across over 55 countries. It provides analytical environments, scalable computing, governance frameworks, and secure data systems for global ecological research.
The Global Forest Biodiversity Initiative—GFBI is a worldwide collaboration of more than 400 forest scientists and foresters working to generate and steward extensive standardized forest inventory and biodiversity datasets.
InterNodes serves as the umbrella organization supporting the long-term development, governance, and institutional sustainability of both initiatives.
